Remembering Jane Louise Parker: A Dynamic and Generous Spirit

The Humane Society of Utah was honored to receive a generous gift from the estate of Jane Louise Parker in April 2024. Jane was a vibrant member of the community throughout her life and animals always held a special place in her heart. She especially loved her dog, Nicholas, who passed away a few years before she did. Jane cared deeply for the people and animals in her community, and Utah's vulnerable pets will enjoy the benefits of her generosity for years to come.

Jane was a truly eclectic woman, with no shortage of passion and interests. She loved to travel. She was particularly drawn to Sun Valley, Idaho and southwestern Utah, where she spent many of her vacations. Jane always enjoyed the Sun Valley Jazz Festival and the Symphony Under the Stars. When she wasn't enjoying music, she could often be found exploring the outdoors and taking in her natural surroundings. Jane's interests also included astronomy, geology, books, and history. She was an active member of her community, serving as an esteemed member of the Business and Professional Women's organization.

Although Jane had many interests, her true passion was always art. She spent many hours in her home art studio working with watercolor, pencil, and acrylic. Her love of animals and nature influenced her artistic endeavors. Some of her favorite painting subjects included birds, landscapes, and flowers. She was also an avid photographer, and spent many of her outdoor adventures trying to capture the perfect photo.

Sadly, Jane passed away unexpectedly in March 2020. She is dearly missed by her close friends and surviving family members. Jane chose to be inurned along with her mother, and her beloved dog, Nicholas, who both preceded her in passing. The Humane Society of Utah is humbled to be a part of Jane's legacy of compassion. The gift she left to our organization will help provide medical care, shelter, food, and other resources for animals in need throughout our community. Through our lifesaving work, we hope to honor this gift and the generous spirit of Jane Louise Parker.
